Conservation Legislation Volunteer Corps Newsletter
2001 #8
Dear CLVC Members,
Following are the important issues to be discussed this week in the
legislature.
On Wednesday, February 7, 2001...
At 11am, The Resources, Recreation and Development Committee will meet
in rooms 305-307, LOB, to address HB 414 - relative to the adoption of
instream flow rules. This bill requires a state-wide management plan
before we implement instream flow rules on designated rivers. This
could delay the important instream flow rules that are necessary to keep
water at ecologically sustainable levels. This bill also talks about
draining water from Winnipesauke to augment low flows.
At 10am (2/7/01), the Science, Technology, and Energy Committee will
meet in room 304, LOB to discuss HB 443 - relative to a 20-year state
comprehensive energy plan.
At 1pm, the Environment and Agriculture Committee will meet in room 303,
LOB, to address HB 348 - relative to prohibiting the land application of
sludge in certain excavation areas.
On Thursday, February 8, 2001, at 1pm the Science, Technology, and
Energy Committee will have an air subcommittee work session on HB 274 -
banning the residential open burning of trash and relative to a dioxin
emissions reduction and control program. HB 253, relative to mercury
reductions, will also be discussed.
As always, thank you for your attention to the newsletter and your
concern for the environment.
