Join Pete McVay, NH Coverts and NHA volunteer, and Sue Martin, NHA volunteer, on a walk through NH Audubon’s Abe Emerson Marsh to look for migrating birds and other signs of animals and plants preparing for winter. Field Trip: Concord November Challenge

2017 marks the tenth year that birders have gathered in Concord in early November to see how many species we can find within the city limits. Over the years we’ve found 124 species, with the record of 93 set in 2013. Can we top it in 2017?! Birders of all skill levels are welcome to participate, and we’ll make every effort to pair new folks up with hardened veterans of the CNC. Field Trip: Dead Creek Wildlife Management Area

Did someone say Snow Geese? Last year’s visit to this major migratory stop on the Lake Champlain flyway produced a tally of nearly 3000 of the beautiful, white birds. Watchers occasionally were treated to wonderful views of the flock spiraling upward creating spectacular white, cloud-like formations. A Beaver Brook naturalist will explain how to identify New Hampshire tree species during the winter after leaves have fallen and conifers stand out. Annual Wilder Dam Eagle Watch
