Impacts of Wind Energy on Birds: What We Think We Know and What Is Uncertain

February 12 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm

free

Wind turbines are seen as one of the best available technologies for carbon, emission-free power generation, but the siting of wind energy projects can present serious dangers to wildlife, particularly to birds and bats.

For nearly two decades, Dr. Allison has been researching the impact of wind turbine projects on wildlife. Most recently at the American Wind and Wildlife Institute (AWWI) where he is Director of Research. Previously he led Massachusetts Audubon’s site evaluation of the Cape Wind Project.

Dr. Allison will share his considerable experience regarding what is known about wind project/wildlife impacts and what remains to be learned.
