Kevin Talbot Loon Photo Exhibit
July 1, 2016 @ 8:00 am - August 31, 2016 @ 5:00 pm
Seacoast Artist’s Association’s own Kevin Talbot will be showing his amazing loon photos this summer during the months of July and August at the New Hampshire Audubon McLane Center. “Choosing just 20 or so to show from the thousands of photos I took over a four month period last summer and fall has been a daunting task, but I hope those who travel to Concord to view them, or who can make the reception in July, will enjoy looking at them as much as I enjoyed taking them!”
From early July to mid October Talbot made weekly and sometimes multiple daily trips to check on two different pairs of loons who bred and raised two chicks each to maturity over the summer and fall of 2015. One of his favorite photos from that time entitled “Hungry Teens” was chosen as Seacoast Artist’s Association’s “Best in Show” receiving a blue ribbon for their monthly theme show challenge in April 2016 entitled “Feathers and Fur”. It was chosen above many excellent entries and depicts two nearly full grown chicks who still relied mainly on their parents to keep them fed.
Talbot is a local nature photographer who has honed his skills over the past twenty-five years on the ponds, in the woods, and across the mountains of his native New England. An avid hiker he, along with his trusted and faithful companions Emma, his dog, and Judy, his wife, have tramped New Hampshire’s forty-eight Four-Thousand Footers and many lesser hills and peaks across New England on hundreds of hikes over the past fifteen years.
A journal and photographs of the amazing hikes they took together can be found at: Ghostflowers.com
A reception for the artist is to be held on Thursday July 14th from 5-7PM at the McLane Center. During this, Talbot will give a short presentation in which he shows 20 slides and talks about each slide for 20 seconds. This is known as Pecha-Kucha style, a Japanese word for “Chit-Chat”. This style was invented to keep presentations short and to the point and has become quite popular around the world. We hope you can join us for this reception, but if that is not possible the photos will be hanging in the McLane Center during the months of July and August 2016. Photos from this show will soon be available for purchase from his website and will help cover the cost of printing and displaying for this show.
