Ornithology and Birding in Peru: Explorations in One of the Most Diverse Regions on Earth

January 8 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm

free

From Rainforests, to glaciated sierras, to deserts that have not seen rain for the past 500 years, Peru is one of the most ecologically diverse countries on earth. Due to this dramatic landscape Peru is home to over 1800 bird species, second only to Colombia. This makes Peru an exciting place to study how these birds adapt and speciate across the ecologically complex Peruvian landscape.

Over the past twelve years Naturalist Phred Benham has had many opportunities to visit this spectacular country, exploring poorly known regions, and researching how the local bird populations adapt to different habitats. Phred will discuss some of the findings from his travels, but also show off some of the amazing birds he has encountered along the way.
