Maya Fabozzi is joining us as Assistant Camp Director for Summer 2024! Maya recently graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Computational Biology from Barnard College, Columbia University. She conducted antibiotic resistance research at Barnard and, more recently, studied bacterial cancer therapeutics at the Columbia University Medical Center. While she has always been passionate about conservation, Maya developed her passion for ecology and environmental science while studying marine biology and tropical ecology for a semester in Panama, where she conducted independent field research on sea urchin reproduction and recruitment dynamics.
Originally from Concord, Maya has been an avid hiker her whole life, completing the 48 four thousand footers in 2019. She is currently planning her thru-hikes of the Long Trail and the Appalachian Trail. When she isn’t hiking, you can still find her idling in mountains as a lifelong skier and former member of the Columbia club ski team. She is also a big-time music enthusiast and spends much of her free time collecting vinyl records and playing her guitar.
As a McLane Center camp alum, Maya is very excited to continue the tradition of outdoor adventure and environmental education for people of all ages.
