Becky Suomala is Retiring

For decades, when folks have thought of NH Audubon they have pictured Becky Suomala in their mind’s eye. Through coordinating the quarterly New Hampshire Bird Records, answering naturalist questions, researching Common Nighthawks, and always looking for foundation funding for the whole Conservation Department, Becky has delivered NH Audubon’s mission. We wouldn’t be where we are today without Becky’s perpetual outgoing friendly attitude, her commitment to our mission, and her willingness to always do what needs to be done.

Becky will be retiring later this year after working at NH Audubon for 36 years. She will still be working into the summer, so this is just an early announcement. It’s also an invitation to welcome Grace McCulloch who has been hired to fill her position, see more about Grace. Grace has already started part-time and will be full-time in June to overlap with Becky before she retires.

We will let you know of plans for a celebration as the end of Becky’s work time approaches. She has asked that, in lieu of any gifts, donations be made to the New Hampshire Bird Records Endowment Fund at NH Audubon. Donations may be made online or by check, just remember to put Becky’s name and NHBR Endowment in the Tribute text box or the check memo. For more information about making a gift, contact Hope Jordan.
