Volunteers Make a Difference

On October 22, students from St. Anselm’s gave a helping hand at Ponemah Bog Wildlife Sanctuary in Amherst (top photo, by Phil Brown). They carried many heavy boards to a staging area for eventual bog bridge repairs.

Volunteers from the Friends of Ponemah Bog (Photo above, by Phil Brown) were instrumental in bog bridge replacement and repair of the Hitchiner observation platform.

To celebrate their successes, the volunteers enjoyed a late afternoon walk around the bog during foliage season, enjoying their improvements that have helped nearly 30,000 people experience the Bog this past year.
